The Department of Microbiology & Immunology has a 100 user DNASTAR Lasergene license for departmental use. To use the software, follow these steps:
1) If you are on the CUMC network, you can download the appropriate version of the DNASTAR Lasergene software installer below to your computer:
Macintosh
DNASTAR Lasergene 14.1 Installer for Macintosh OS X 10.10 or higher (680 MB .dmg)
Windows
DNASTAR Lasergene 12.1 Installer for Windows 7 64 bit or higher (697 MB .exe) (613 MB .exe)
For older operating systems:

Please make sure that Java is fully updated from Software Update (Mac) or WIndows Update (Windows).
2) Run the downloaded DNASTAR Lasergene installer on your computer. You only need to install the Lasergene Core Suite (and optionally DNASTAR Navigator - we have not licensed SeqMan or GenVision). During the installation process, the software will ask for a license authorization key. At that point, select "Network" for DNASTAR License Type and license server number your lab was provided with. Your computer must have access to the Columbia network for DNASTAR Lasergene to function, as the software requires a network license server. If you need to use the software from an off campus location install and use VPN software. If you have any other questions about using DNASTAR Lasergene, or need license server information, contact the system administrator.
